Address to Beijing Synergy Conference on EU-China Energy Co-operation

It is both a great honour and a pleasure for me to have this opportunity of addressing you today on behalf of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. I would like to thank the State Science and Technology Commission of China and the European Commission for organising this conference on energy co-operation between the European Union and China. The varied and distinguished representation here today from the energy sector in both regions is, I think, testament to the importance which the various decision-making institutions and other organisations in both regions attach to this subject.
