Perc Emissions from (SIC 7216) Dry Cleaners in the Seattle Area

The 1990 inventory showed that drycleaning was a major source of HAPs. This prompted some concern because dry cleaners are located in heavily populated areas. The Agency set out to educate cleaners abotu our new drycleannign rule, to encourage them to upgrade their machines, to reduce emissions, and also keep verificable records. The study was a by-product of this effort. The study was limited to SIC 7216 becasue the Agency already had good data about the industrial cleaners (SIC 7218). They mostly use water, have good O&M practices, and have solvent recovery procedures (off-site).
