Work Safety is An indispensable Part of Sustainable Development in China

摘要

Work safety is usually considered to be the responsibility of enterprises and government agencies. When sustainable development is discussed, people may talk about resources, environment and population but lose sight of work safety. The author contends that work safety is an indispensable part of sustainable development, a call for the whole society to pay greater attention to work safety, thus protecting the safety of man in work activities. The author touches upon the origin and meaning of the sustainable development strategy, analyzes the relationship between work safety and sustainable development by the need hierarchy theory, and reviews the implications of work safety for sustainable development in a context of serious concerns for work safety in China. The paper also puts forward solutions and recommendations from seven aspects to enhance work safety, by following the doctrine of people orientation and the concept of overall, coordinated and sustainable development.
