Interpreting the results produced by a chemistry-transport model (CTM) often requires understanding the relationship among multiple species which in turn may have their own patterns of spatial and temporal variation. The analysis and visualization tools typically used by the air quality community provide limited assistance in interpreting relationships that involve more than two species or the spatial variation of a multi-species relationship. For example, scatter plots provide limited insight into the relationship among the concentrations of ozone and its precursors (nitrogen oxides, and reactive organic gases).
