Sodium-type faujasite(FAU) zeolite membrane is one of the most noticed zeolite membranes. The increasing attention has been paid due to the promising separation performances in recovering carbon dioxide [1-2], dewatering liquid organics [3,4], and separating organic mixtures [3,5,6]. The excellent separations originate in the large pore diameter (7.4 A) and the preferential chemical affinity to carbon dioxide, water and so on. As reported by several research groups [1-6], sodium-type FAU zeolite membranes have been synthesized by the secondary growth process, a heterogeneous growth process under a hydrothermal condition. In the synthesis process, seeds introduced to the surface of a porous support grow in a hydrothermal condition to be a continuous FAU zeolite layer. There is a fundamental hurdle, the difficulty in growing a continuous FAU zeolite layer with a large permeating area, in the secondary growth process. Therefore, the reported FAU zeolite membranes have the permeating area as small as a few cm~2 [1-6].
