Alignment of strips to reduce the pressure drop in the finned-tube heat exchanger having offset strip

This work discusses about the pressure drop and heat transfer characteristics of the finned-tube heat exchangers having #phi#7 mm tube and offset strip used in the air conditioning applications. The present experiments were performed by using the three times scaled-up models to simulate the performance of the prototype. The five offset strip patterns were tested and compared. The area density of strip was major factor and the shape and location was secondary factor on the pressure drop and the heat transfer.
