State of the art of Broadband Access, beyond the commercially available ADSL, ATM PON and Cablemodems

Today products exist for broadband communication on twisted pair, optical and hybrid fiber coax networks. Technologies beyond these products are being researched. Various techniques for VDSL (Very high speed Digital Subscriber Line), PONs (Passive Optical Network) with high splitting factor and range, and cablemodems for bidirectional data communication on HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax) are described.
