A previously developed LIF technique for measuring low NO concentrations in lean, laminar premixed methane flames at presures up to 14.6 atm was tested at higher pressures between 15 and 30 atm. Through the process of identifying importantlimitations, several improvements were made to permit quantitiative measurements of NO concentrations at pressures beyond 15 atm. However, considerable uncertainties owing to significant O_2 interferenes continue to determine the detection limit. Other considerations include optical phase distortion and thermal lensing effects.
