Studies on the targetability of galactosylated liposomal azidothymidine palmitate (AZTP)

In our study, a novel glycolipid bearing a galactosyl group, [(2-lactoylamido) ethylamino] formic acid cholesterol ester (CH-ED-LA) was incorporated in AZTP liposomes. After intravenous administration, the targetability of AZTP encapsulated in liposomes containing 3%, 5% and 10% (mol/mol) CH-ED-LA to the liver was investigated. The results showed that the incorporation of CH-ED-LA can enhance the accumulation of AZTP to liver, and the AZTP liposomes containing 5% CH-ED-LA possess the highest targeting efficiency.
