Chemical activation has been shown to be an efficient method to obtain activated carbons with high surface area and narrow micropore distribution. Pre-treatment of precursor is one of the most important steps for obtaining good adsorbent materials, such as the preoxidation of anthracite by air or oxidizing solutions before activation [1-4]. Oxidation treatments of carbons introduce acidic, basic, and neutral surface oxygen complexes [5]. The acidic surface oxides such as carboxyl, phenolic hydroxyl, lactone and quinine groups, are introduced to the carbons treated with different oxidizing solutions, such as HNO_3, H_2O_2, and (NH_4)_2 S_2 O_8 [1,6,7].
