The nature of work in our global economy is changing. These changes lead to significant challenges for all of us in protecting the safety and health of workers. Addressing these challenges requires new solutions that are borne out of the understanding that we are one global community with common interests and needs. Our solutions must address the challenges of integrating workers with different languages and vastly different cultural backgrounds and life experiences. Our solutions must be effective. They must provide workers with new knowledge and skills that benefit their well-being at work and away from work. And our governments, business and enterprise leaders, communities, and workers must be able to use that knowledge and those skills to change the way people are put at risk.... at work, on roads, in communities and in their homes.
