Study on the Characteristics of MFE Vinyl Ester Resin and its Applications in Anticorrosion Technology

Vinyl ester is an unsaturated polyester whose molecule contains an epoxy resin skeleton in the middle, terminating with an vinyl group in both ends. It is made by the ring-opening esterification reaction between an organic unsaturated monobasic acid (most frequently acrylic acid or methacrylic acid) and an epoxy resin, so it is also known as unsaturated acid epoxy ester. The word vinyl ester is not suitable. More accurately, it should be named epoxy vinyl ester. In the former Soviet Union literature it was named epoxy acrylic ester or epoxy methacrylic ester etc. and in the early literature of our country methacrylic acid epoxy ester, acrylic acid epoxy ester or more gerenally unsaturated acid epoxy ester were used.
