In the European ITP HISAC the feasibility ofan environmentally friendly and economicallyviable small size supersonic transport aircraft(S4TA) is investigated. Main environmentalissues are fuel consumption, noise, emissionsand sonic boom. Three design teams exercise aMultiple Disciplines Optimization resulting inthree variants of a S4TA. This work includesengine performance simulations for varioustypes of engines covering the whole business jetflight envelope. The NLR Gas TurbineSimulation Program GSP is one of the engineperformance modeling vehicles used for the socalledmixer-ejector engine variant, which isapplied to reduce noise at take-off. It appearedthat the engine core flow mixing with theentrainment flow through the exhaust ejectordoors is supersonic. GSP can handle asstandard component the mixer-ejector withsubsonic in- and outflows and has beenadapted to include the supersonic core flow.This paper gives the method and results fromthe GSP modification to include a mixer withsupersonic core flow. It appears that GSP iswell suited to predict the performance of themixer-ejector engine. The engine performancesimulation results however came too late tofeed the HISAC MDO studies.
