By the end of this century the reserves of nature gas will surpass those of crude oil So natural gas will play a more important role as carbon resource for fuel and basic chemicals in recent years. Research interests have turned to new developments and utilizations of methane to useful products. This note deals with selective oxidation of methane by oxygen to syngas on Nickel supported catalyst, as an alternative route to synthesis gas manufacture.
