Experiments to make multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) by coating ceramic precursor on a conductive mesh electrode or by inserting buffer layer into multilayer structure were conducted. Prototype ceramic capacitor made though coating ceramic precursor or ceramic slip on a conductive mesh electrode demonstrates an achievable high volumetric capacitance with controlled structure of ceramic active layer. Wound type multilayer ceramic body with impregnated buffer layer was successfully built by creating interspaces within the multilayer structure and filling the interspaces with liquefied buffer materials. Said buffer layer also works as the internal electrode of the ceramic capacitor when a conductive chemical liquid is selected. Both wound type and stacked type multilayer ceramic capacitors can be made in large format as well as low cost according to presented methods.
