The CSVT River Bridge in Pennsylvania is a 6-lane, 15-span, ⅞-mile-long, multi-girder structurecomprised of three independent units. The bridge features tall, slender piers with significantly varying stiffnessand consecutively fixed bearings. To optimize the design and capture realistic behavior, system substructureinteraction was modeled using second-order analyses with nonlinear material properties. In addition, aseismic analysis was performed to optimize the bearings, and strut-and-tie analyses were performed oncertain substructure elements.
