High Speed Rail Bridge Design – Tule River Viaduct

The California High Speed Rail Program is working towards a dedicated passenger route from L.A. toSan Francisco. Near Corcoran, the Tule River Viaduct is a 3,500 foot concrete bridge designed to carry the 220mph train over Poplar Ave., CA SR 43, BNSF, and the Tule River. Primary elements include precast adjacent tubgirders, straddle bents, and a pergola structure. Discussion includes design, modelling, rail structure interaction,seismic details, dynamic impact, and passenger comfort checks.
