One-Step-Method to Synthesize Fe/FeO/Graphene Nanocomposite by Pulsed Wire Discharge

The Fe/FeO/graphene nanocomposite material was obtained through pulsed wire discharge in liquid medium. The pure iron wires with a diameter of 0.5 mm and a length of 100 mm and graphite wires with a 2X2 mm cross-section and a length of 100 mm were used in the experiments. The discharge current and voltage data were recorded to analyze the process of the pulsed discharge and the phase transition of the wires. The as-prepared samples were recovered and characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM and XPS. The results show that the recovered samples are Fe/FeO/graphene nanocomposite powders with the morphology of the curved, loose graphene nanosheets anchored with sphericalFe and FeO nanoparticles. The formation mechanism of the Fe/FeO/graphene nanocomposite during pulsed wire discharge was discussed.
