An inorganic material, monosodium titanate,rnexhibits good removal characteristics forrnstrontium and several actinides from highlyrnalkaline simulated and actual waste solutions.rnActinides removal testing included plutonium,rnuranium and neptunium. Based on the measuredrnremoval rates, preliminary conceptual designs forrnstrontium and actinide removal within saltrnprocessing alternatives at the Savannah River Siternappear reasonable. Bounding cases for plutoniumrnand neptunium indicate the need for additionalrnsorbent to ensure that the process achieves thernwaste acceptance criteria for disposal of therndecontaminated supernatant liquid. We concludernthat sorption data obtained from simulated wasternsolutions provide reliable predictions for use inrnfacility design and flowsheet modeling studies.
