In this lecture, we will give a general introduction to the recently developing soft-collinear effective theory (SCET). The lecture is organized into three parts after a brief introduction. At first, we present the ingredients of SCET and formulate the leading SCET Lagrangian, which allows us to simplify the proofs of (ultra)soft-collinear factorization through field redefinition; then we derive the SCET Lagrangian and heavy-to-light currents beyond the leading power; finally we will discuss some aspects of recently developing two-stage matching procedure and its application to the proof of factorization of B → π form factors at the large recoil.
