The taste and odor compounds (T&O) 2-methyl isoborneol (MIB) and geosmin are of concernto water authorities world-wide. Through an AWWARF research study grant, a pilot unitbased on the coupling of membranes and PAC was set up in the drinking water treatmentplant of T.W. Moses, in Indianapolis, IN. This plant presents the most problematic issuesrelated to taste and odor, since the exclusive resource of this plant has encountered regularalgal blooms during the recent years. On one hand, physical-chemical parameters (MIB andGeosmin quantifications, TOC/DOC, turbidity…) enabled us to characterize the taste andodor removal, and on the other hand, a continuous data acquisition was set up to get hydraulicparameters. Two main periods of pilot experiments were carried out in a row from July toNovember 2007.
