ADVANTAGES OF LOW SPEED CONTINUOUS CENTRIFUGATION

Recent development work and extensive factory trials of a low speed high grade continuous centrifugal have shown particular advantages in low gravity separation of the high grade massecuite into its constituents of shipment sugar and molasses. These benefits include reduction in damage to the sugar crystals and improvements in molasses purity and brix. The reduction in forces employed in the separation process has demonstrated benefits in reduced power consumption and component wear. This paper provides some data on the operating results of a low speed continuous centrifugal, and the means by which these improved operations could be of benefit in sugar mills and refineries.
