AUTOMATED INSPECTION SYSTEM FOR PERFORMING NDI OF LARGE AREA STRUCTURES ON THE C-5 MILITARY TRANSPORT AIRCRAFT

System testing on the C-5, C-17, and T-38 has demonstrated that the Automated Large Area Inspection System is an efficient and reliable means of performing on-aircraft NDI of large area aircraft structures. Although the system was specifically developed for performing on-aircraft NDI, its unparalleled features and adaptability make it an ideal general purpose NDI system which can be adapted for use in any application requiring portability and a large area scan capability. Potential applications for the system include NDI of ship hulls, sonar domes, rocket casings, storage tanks, and pressure vessels.
