This paper proposes a hybrid-type vibration isolation systemcontrolled by a phase compensated LQ control method with afrequency shaped weighting function. The hybrid system iscomposed of a passive spring-damper system reducing vibrationsof high frequency range and an active one reducing those of lowfrequency range. This system is controlled by the phasecompensated digital LQ optimization method with a frequencyshaped weighting function. By the proposed method, the phaselagof the control system is compensated so that the vibrationisolation performance is improved. Simulations for the activesystem are carried out and the effectiveness of the phasecompensation is shown. Then, experiments for the hybrid systemare carried out for sinusoidal or random excitations. It isconfirmed that the purposed hybrid system has the excellentisolation performance for excited vibrations over the widefrequency range.
