The proceeding examples give clear indication that compact heat exchangers can solve heat transfer problems in existing plants that would be difficult to accomplish by the use of tubular exchangers. While not all applications are suitable for compact heat exchanger technology, investigation of the problem should include them as a possible solution. The ultimate applicability will depend on the site specifics including installation and equipment costs, operational and maintenance costs and pressure and temperatures of the system.
