WELCOME FROM THE CONFERENCE CHAIR

On behalf of the Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering (OOAE) Division of ASME and our community of volunteer organizers, we are delighted to welcome you to the first international Offshore Wind Technical (IOWTC 2018) Conference, and to the fabulous city of San Francisco. We wish to thank all the attendees, authors and volunteers for helping to make the IOWTC Conference the preeminent international technical forum in offshore wind. As frequent participants and beneficiaries of the ASME/OOAE Conferences, we strongly feel that this organization is the perfect umbrella to create a premier technical conference on offshore wind. The sustainability revolution we are witnessing and actively participating in has the breath of a technical revolution and the speed of the digital age. With little fanfare, renewed interest in the Oceans has been rising and marine renewable alternatives are not just on the horizon, but already a reality. The program of this first conference has exceeded our expectations and we are delighted to present two tracks of scientific papers of extremely high quality. For this, we an. thankful to all the authors, reviewers, and organizers involved that made this conference a reality. Our heartfelt appreciation to all involved!
