Human Values and Personal Health Records

Personal health records (PHRs) are on the rise in recentrnyears. To understand why and how people use (or not use)rnPHRs, it is critical to understand what they value. Thisrnpaper reports preliminary findings from a thematic analysisrnof journal articles related to PHRs. Our analysis identifiedrnsix values with ethical import as being particularly salientrnto the use of personally identifiable information in thisrnliterature: privacy, confidentiality, security, transparency,rntrust, and human agency.
