It has been found comparatively recently that there exists a steady azimuthal nonuniformity of gasdynamic parameters distribution at the boundary of a supersonic underexpanded jet emanating from an axisymmetric nozzle into the ambient space [1,2]. A similar effect had been observed previously in investigations of a supersonic jet flowing into a semibounded axisymmetric channel [3]. A 3D flow structure has been also found in rarefied gas jets [4,5]. The flow with streamwise vortices in supersonic off-design jets at high Reynolds numbers has been also studied at different facilities using the jet cross section visualization by the laser sheet method [6,7] apart from the probing measurement methods and Schlieren pictures of the flow.
