SOME ISSUES ON PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF MOBILE COMMUNICATION NETWORKS

Ad-hoc networking is one of novel concepts for mobile communication. In mobile ad-hoc networks, a mobile node can directly communicate with another mobile node in contrast with cellular systems, where two nodes cannot directly communicate with each other (Fig. 1). If each node has routing function, a network consisting of only mobile nodes can be realized. Ad-hoc networking technology can be used for various kinds of purposes. In ad-hoc networks, information is delivered from a node to another node via some relay nodes while the network structure dynamically changes with time. Hence, novel routing procedures suitable to ad-hoc networks are required, and various kinds of routing protocols for ad-hoc networks have been proposed. At the same time, some new performance issues arise. In this talk, we consider some of the performance issues and show some results of performance analysis.
