In this paper, antiwashout underwater concretes (AUC) material developments and construction technique are introduced. Two engineering construction projects along coastal areas of China, such as “road building into the sea” in Shengli Oilfield and “subsea pipeline stabilization” in Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant were discussed. Combined with the engineering requirements on concrete compressive strength, construction process and scale, environment condition and field operation circumstances, some adjustment methods of materials components of AUC are emphatically discussed. It is showed that the traditional water-insulation underwater construction technique should be combined with the usage of AUC in order to obtain optimal concrete quality in cases of large volume underwater concrete placement. In the meantime, considering both the performance of AUC and placement method in site, concrete flowability and anti-washout property should be considered and balanced comprehensively.
