Chloroprene rubber/vermiculite nanocomposites (CR/VerNs) were prepared via solution intercalation method from CR, cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) and vermiculite in a solution of THF. The influences of solvent, reaction temperature, time and vermiculite loading on intercalation reaction were systematically studied, finding the optimum condition of solvent THF, 65℃, 48h, and vermiculite 5wt%. Moreover, XRD and TEM, analyses showed that vermiculite layers were well exfoliated and homogeneously dispersed in CR matrix. The analysis showed that the mechanical properties and antistatic property of the materials were remarkably enhanced.
