The purpose of our research is to verify in the following three points the effects of a tutorial system attached to a BBS communication site of JOA when EFL learners were referred to the site to improve their written English messages:to examine if there is a difference in the number of messages contributed to the BBS between the periods before and after constructing the tutorial system;to make a thorough investigation of how often the tutorial system has been referred to by learners to check if a word (s) they used is / are correct; to analyze to see if any progress has been made in learners' English proficiency, specifically in the areas of listening and reading competence after they were tested by pre and post SLEP tests. The following findings did not necessarily meet what we had anticipated prior to our research. First, after the tutorial system had been contrived, the number of learners' messages contributed to the BBS decreased.Second, about 80% of their messages written were revised. Third, both areas of learners' listening and reading proficiency measured by the SLEP tests improved score-wise, and a remarkable improvement with significant difference was observed in the area of reading.
