Treatment of the sweet water from filter cake in the sugar Refinery

The filtered washings was treated by the phosphate flotation system which was set up in Xiaogang sugar refinery in 2014. The most parts of equipment in the system were from old three-stage scum desweetening system, which was fitted into the Peikang sugar refinery. This sugar refinery has been closed by Taiwan Sugar Corporation since 2005. However, the defects were inevitable in the new system. Local improvement for some equipment and modification of pH control system of the filtered washings, had been able to grasp the phosphate flotation system. At pH 7.0, the removal percentage of color value and starch content in filtered washings after flotation were about 40% and 60% respectively. The amount of the scum after phosphate flotation was produced about 10% by volume (including bubble, solid and filtered washings). When all scum was thrown into sweet mud tank, and with mud were filtered together, it did not cause any problems in the sugar refinery.
