This garment was completed as a project in an advanced design class to demonstrate a marketable use of Louisiana alligator skins in apparel. It was inspired by the restrained elegance of the Paris coutrue with a modern emphasis on sensuality. An extremely soft garment-finished caramel-colored skin was chosen by the design team. "Felicity" consists of two pieces: a scooped neck empire tank in alligator, shaped with princess seams to a high hip length, and a long straight, side slit chocolate brown wool skirt. When the wearer moves, a polka dotted skirt lining becomes visible. The stylistic purity of the garment is indicated by its lack of extraneous elements and its focus on subordiante details such as the texture of the skin, bound finishing and top stitching.
