Dyeing with fermented materials

摘要

With renewed interest in natural dyeing by commercial dyers and fiber artists, understanding dyestuff fermentation has ecome more importnat. This project explored the effect of fermentation on color yield and fastness by comparing textiles identical in fiber content, mordant, and dye process except for fermentation. Dependent variables are the color produced and its wash and light fastness. Independent variables are mordant, textile (wool and silk), plant material, and treatment.
