Preparation and Evaluation of (Des-gly)-glutathione monoethyl ester- Loaded Microemulsion in Brain Targeting

Des-gly-glutathione monoethyl ester (GCEE) loaded-microemulsions were developed to increase glutathione (GSH) levels in rat brain regions (hippocampus and cortex). The effect of GCEE loaded-microemulsions was tested on the changes of hippocampus and cortex GSH levels. Pharmacokinetic results of GCEE loaded-microemulsions in the cortex and hippocampus were evaluated. We aimed to provide a secondary cure of neurodegenerative diseases by increase the GSH levels in the brain regions.
