This paper describes how two in-process real-time particle characterization tools (Mettler ToledoLasentec FBRM and PVM [1]) have been used to monitor and quantify pellet size and number, coatinggrowth rate and agglomeration/attrition phenomena during fluid bed coating processes. Effect of processvariables such as spray rate and insert column diameter on the coating process was investigated. Qualityof the product was assessed through pellet disintegration.
