摘要

Current geosynchronous (GEO) weather satellites require lengthy recovery times following spacecraft maneuvers before the instruments return to full operational status. This paper derives a set of requirements for the next generation Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-R) which eliminates or greatly reduces the time that the level-1b data products are out of specification. Advanced concepts are outlined that may be used to satisfy the requirements. Analysis and simulation results are presented that demonstrate the feasibility of each approach. The results indicate that science outages can be reduced by a factor of 30 over the GOES-N series of spacecraft.
