Affected by underground mining, the ground surface undergoes significant subsidence and horizontal movement. Therefore, the pile foundations above the mining area not only bear the vertical load, but also the additional load caused by the horizontal movement of the surface. Based on the surface horizontal movement of the mining area, the horizontal movement pattern of the surface is divided into four modes: rectangle, triangle, inverted triangle, and parabola. The effect of the horizontal ground surface movement on the pile is mainly caused by the pile-soil relative displacement. The lateral movement modes of the different mining soils have different effects on the horizontal bearing characteristics of the pile foundation. Two types of flexural deformation occur in the pile under the four soil lateral movement modes. The elastic strain, additional earth pressure, and compressive deformation of the pile present two kinds as well. Under the same displacement, the rotation point of the pile is the lowest and its inclination is the maximum, and it is subjected to the positive triangular lateral displacement mode. The inclination of the pile is the smallest and its bending moment is the largest when induced by the inverted triangular soil lateral displacement. Under the parabolic soil lateral movement, the pile deflection is the smallest.
