This investigation was undertaken to understand the interaction between steel tools and AZ31B magnesium alloy sheet during high-temperature forming. A new method of tribo-testing at high temperature, which involves reciprocating sliding of steel specimens against magnesium alloy sheet, was used to determine the effects of temperature and load. On the steel tool/magnesium sheet interaction. The coefficient of friction increased with increasing test temperature but decreased with increasing load.
