The Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) is a rail transit system which operates between Lindenwold, New Jersey and Philadelphia, Pennylvania. The system consists of approximately fifteen (15) route miles or thirty (30) track miles with the following configurations: three and one-half (3.5) miles of subway, eleven (11) miles of grade separated and one and one-half (1.5) miles on a major suspension bridge spanning the Delaware River between Philadelphia, PA and Camden, NJ. The track geometry conditions at PATCO are somewhat unique: grades to 5percent, curvature up to 28 degrees-7 minutes, curves with 190 L.F. radius and a combination 4percent grade, 8 inch superelevation curve in a tunnel.
