摘要

A network of vertical pumping wells was constructed and operated successfully for many months helped in stabilizing the tunneling works. The critical tunnel length was about 400m while the excavated ground consisted of complex highly weathered geological formations. The progressive pumping procedure including final step-by-step shutdown has resulted in improving the tunnel stability conditions during construction and minimizing the relevant environmental consequences.
