PREPARING A RISK MANAGEMENT PLAN UNDER THE ACCIDENTAL RELEASE PREVENTION REGULATIONS

As required under the Clean Air Act, EPA recently finalized the Accidental Release Prevention Regulations (effective August 19, 1996). The regulations affect many surface finishing facilities due to the on-site storage of certain compounds above threshold levels. Typical chemicals which may be stored at surface finishing facilities include chlorine, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and propane.The primary component of the Accidental Release Prevention Regulations is the preparation of a Risk Management Plan (RMP).
