Start-up and testing of the zone system for lincoln,nebraska

Based on the results of pilot plant testing on atrazine oxidation and iron and managanese removal,Lincoln,Nebraska has installed ozonatin as part of a 50 mgd expansion of its Ashland Filtratin Plant.Water is drawn from an aquifer along hte Platte River and ozone is added prior to filtration.Loow-frequency Emery ozone generators are used to produce up to 700 pounds per day of ozone from dry air supplied by a low-pressure air feed system,with refrigerant and desiccant dryets.The ozone is applied to the raw water is two 25 mgd countercurrent contactors.THe ozone system was installed recently and is undergoing start-up and operational testing.Th eprocedures followed and hte results of the tests are presented.
