The emissions performance of four Mossgas low sulphur diesel fuels, including two alcohol blends, was compared to that of a coastal pump diesel fuel and a European reference diesel fuel usign the procedure outlined in ECE Regulation 49 for the testing of medium/heavy duty diesel engines. This procedure consists of 13 modes at various speeds and loads for a bench-mounted engine loaded and dynamometer. The tests were conducted on a local production engine, the Mercedes Benz/ADE 364N. Specific emissions of particulate matter, unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and oxides of nitrogen were calculated for each fuel.
