The use of heavy alcohols as a blend with diesel environmental effects

The emissions peformanc eof four Mossgas low sulphur diesel fuels,including two alcohol blends,was compared to that of a coastal pump diesel fuel and a European reference diesel fuel using the procedure outlined in ECE Regulation 49 fro the testing of medium/heavy duty diesel engines.This procedure consists of 13 modes at vaious speeds and loads for a bench-mounted engine loaded and dynamometer.The tests were conducted on a local production engine,the Mercedes Benz/ADE 364N.Specific emissions of prticulate matter,unburned hydrocarbons,carbon monoxide and oxides of nitrogen were calculated for each fuel.
