Tri-state Light Decoder of Ternary Optical Computer

摘要

In this paper the design, fabrication and verification of a tri-state light decoder based on the technique of tri-value polarization encoding and decoding are presented. The decoder is used to transform 2D tristate light signals to electronic signals in the ternary optical computer. It consists of a polarization detector, a photoelectric conversion system and an embedded system. Functionally, the polarization detector is applied to separate the two orthogonal polarizations of light into two propagation directions,the photoelectric conversion system measure the light intensity, and the embedded system fulfill the function of data processing and system synchronization. Experimental results obtained from a laboratory plant verify the validity and feasibility of the proposed new decoder when it is applied in the ternary optical computer system.
