Since 1990 the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM), Berlin, has performed a series of tests on carbon fibre strengthening of concrete structures. While other European institutes used exclusively rigid carbon plates to strengthen the bending capacity, BAM applied flexible cfrp prepreg UD sheets to upgrade the bending as well as the shear capacity of RC beams and also the load bearing capacity of columns. Besides the test results different non-destructive test methods to investigate the quality of the application process are discussed.
