Interactions of plant, animal and environmental components of silvopastoral systems in Korea

摘要

Since Korea has a small land area and high population density, applied scientists working in land related-industries have been strongly interested in effective land use for a long time. In the land related-industries, large amounts of local agriculture and forestry production have been dependent upon mountains and adjacent areas, Furthermore, because the society requires the conversion of mountainous forest areas to other land use to meet the increasing demand for land, we face serious problems in trying to optimize and promote efficient use of mountainous forest land between development and conservation. The optimization of mountainous forest land use should be realized by meeting the various demands of a changing modern society by providing high quality service from the forest land, andby enhancing the environmental values of forest resources.
