In this paper, the authors present an analysis of the emerging of e-commerce as a new business model. A case study is presented in this paper and a conceptual framework based on data obtained from Indonesia is used to understand the process of emerging e-commerce. This framework comprises four market models: traditional, supermarket and department store, TV media, and an e-commerce model. This involves both cultural and humanistic aspect of the transition from the traditional model to the e-commerce model. A case analysis was used to explore the nature of the emerging process of e-commerce in Indonesia. From this study, several barriers to e-commerce in the cultural and humanistic categories have been identified: (1) shopping behavior, (2) computer and Internet literacy, and (3) income. Two solution for overcoming these barriers are: (1) GENETIK@ (Gerakan Nasional Telematika/ Telematics National Movement), (2) Intermediary between Internet users and webstore by Internet Cafe (Waning Internet/WARNET).
